Premier League for old Longhill High student and Ambassador, Tommy Elphick

Posted in: News Archive

This week, current Longhill High students were proud and excited to see ex-student Tommy Elphick successfully captain Bournemouth AFC to the premier league for the first time.

BBC TV Football commentator Simon Brotherton, another successful ex-student of Longhill, tweeted:

“Well deserved success for Bournemouth & congrats to fellow former Longhill pupil @TommyElph4 on captaining the side to the Premier League.”

Students at Longhill have keenly followed Elphick’s career at the Seagulls and through his move to become skipper of the Cherries. Tommy recently became an Ambassador for PE at the school:

“The PE department has been a big influence in my personal development, whilst PE/sport have been a passion of mine since I first started Longhill in 1999.

I support the Longhill PE department because it was always important for my career to develop physically and mentally and I found that the school gave me lots of opportunity to develop these skills. I have had some wonderful memories playing for my school and I wanted to offer something back by giving them encouragement and supporting the current students.

I have great memories of playing for Longhill football team and being successful. School sport is a powerful vehicle for personal growth and development whether you end up playing professionally or not.”

Longhill High School prides itself on its PE team who bring a wealth of enthusiasm, knowledge and even their own experience playing in professional sports, to their teaching of students.
