Recycle Your Old Longhill High School Uniform & Help the Community

Posted in Homepage, News - July 24th, 2017

In response to parents’ request for a recycling facility for the old school uniform, a recycling bin has been placed by the school’s exit.  The Longhill High School recycling scheme is part of the wider scheme operated by Brighton & Hove City Council.

The scheme is operated by The European Recycling Company Limited   They are part of the largest textile sorting and recycling group in the world and boast some impressive facts to support the service they provide.

  • 62% re-use rate, before anything even goes for recycling
  • 32% is re-manufactured into thousands of products
  • 6% is re-utilised as either product parts or as an energy source.

As part of the scheme, 40% of the income received is put into Brighton & Hove’s Communities Fund, which local community groups and charities can bid for.

In the first year of the scheme Brighton & Hove has raised over £25,000 for community groups and this is due to be awarded over the coming months.

We are delighted to be part of the scheme and thank parents for their support with recycling the old Longhill High School uniform.
