Chocolate Cheer for Sickly Sibling

Once again Longhill High School showed what a generous community it is, when students, parents, carers and staff collected 264 Easter eggs for the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital Rockinghorse Appeal.

We hoped that this generous gesture would benefit many local children, but were surprised to learn this week that one of those children was someone a little closer to home.  Here one of our Year 10 students, Megan Hobden, explains what happened.

“I am writing this email on behalf of myself, my mum and my little brother Cody.

My little brother Cody is four years old now and it was his birthday on the 31st of March.  However he was unwell over the course of his birthday and went to the hospital with his bad asthma and with bad shaking and later presented with a very high temperature and rash.  We then later found out he had scarlet fever.

While we were at the hospital, he received one of the Easter eggs given by the students here at Longhill – it was a small transformer egg – he loved it and he was so happy to be given this by the hospital staff from Longhill.  We are so thankful as although he was unwell this put a big smile on his face!”

We are so pleased that we were able to help cheer Cody up and delighted to report that he is recovering well.
