Earlier this month, Deborah Cohen, an ex-Longhill High School student, visited the school to speak to our IGNITE ambassadors in Years 7 – 10.

Deborah, who was a student at Longhill High in the early 1990s, gave an inspirational speech about her educational choices and career pathway since completing her GCSE studies; she then went on to answer individual questions from our students.

The students learnt that after further education, Deborah continued on to university where she took a marketing degree.  After graduating university, she began her career in London, working for an agency, advertising beverages.

Deborah, who speaks French, then made an exciting move to Paris to work for Disneyland Paris, where she worked in the marketing department for 7 years.  Still working in the marketing field, Deborah now lives in Dubai and works for Etihad airways.

Deborah demonstrated to the students how working hard, having aspirations and making informed choices can lead to a highly fulfilling and successful career. We would like to thank her for sharing her personal and professional experiences and for giving advice about options and the importance of finding good quality mentors.
