Poppy Appeal Success

Posted in: Latest News

After 100 years since the end of the Great War, a number of the Longhill Combined Cadet Force represented themselves, the CCF, the school and their families during the Rottingdean Remembrance Parade last weekend.

The parade included an eclectic mix of the local community: old and young veterans, scouts and cubs, members of Blind Vets UK and Sea Cadets (just to name a few) along with many members of the public. Excitingly, our hard-working cadets Will and Abi were given the honour to escort their flag, and the parade was once again led by Mr Pringle’s brother playing the bagpipes!

During the last hymn our cadets were sent amongst the crowd for the collection for the poppy appeal. This only took a few minutes but that was all the attending crowd needed to donate a staggering £2,550.00!

It was incredibly heart-warming to see how many former Longhill cadets attended the service and came over to say hello.

Our cadets and staff have also spent the last couple of Saturdays collecting for the Poppy Appeal at Asda in the Marina where they get a fantastic response from the public. We can’t wait to see how much they raised over the two days.

Thanks to all cadets and staff for all their hard work over the remembrance season!
