Results Day 2020 – Thursday 20th August 2020 – 10.00 to 12.00 a.m.

Dear Parents/carers

GCSE results day this year is on Thursday 20th August. Students can access their results via the school portal from around 9am on that day. The school will also be open for students to collect an envelope containing their results if they choose to do so. As usual, the envelope contains a printout of the GCSE grades as shown on the portal and not the actual GCSE certificates.

Due to social distancing measures we will be giving out these certificates on the field, or if it is raining, on the school patio. We will also be staggering when students can come onto the school site to collect their envelopes to avoid a large number of students all being present at the same time as follows.

Mentor Group Time
11B 10.00-10.15
11R 10.15-10.30
11I 10.30-10.45
11G 10.45-11.00
11H 11.00-11.15
11T 11.15-11.30
11O 11.30-11.45
11N 11.45-12.00

Please note there will be a minimal number of staff on site and the school will only be open for the times shown above. Cordelia Dobbie, our careers advisor, will be available on the day to answer any queries regarding college courses or apprenticeships.

If students do not collect their results, these will be posted home on results day. The envelope will include details of how students can apply for ‘re-sitting’ any exams which will take place at school during November.

Graduation evening

The actual GCSE certificates are sent to school in the autumn and will be given out during our graduation evening during December. Details of this will be sent out next term when we have more information on how we can run this evening, along with the date and timings. We hope we can make the graduation evening a true celebration of the year 11s time at Longhill High School with food (possibly the year 11 barbeque), opening of the time capsules, signing of shirts, a presentation of their time at school and giving out of the GCSE certificates.

Yours faithfully

Mr W Holland

Deputy Headteacher
