Letter sent to the parents of Year 7 students about a Medieval Banquet November 2007
Dear Parent/Guardian
As part of the Year 7 History course students make a detailed study of Medieval Times. To increase their understanding and enjoyment of this topic, the History department has planned to hold a Medieval Banquet which will incorporate various aspects of medieval life e.g. food, dress, entertainment etc. The event has been organised as a House event and as Christmas approaches we also hope that the feast will be an exciting and memorable social event for the year group.
The Medieval Banquet will take place on Thursday 6 December 5.30pm – 7.00pm. To add to the atmosphere the students will need to dress up, and will be required to bring a plate and cup. Students will be discussing Medieval dress in class and an information sheet is available. This is an optional event and students are not under pressure to attend, because of Health and Safety there will be a maximum of 120 students (20 per House).
We would be grateful for a contribution of £3.50 per student towards the cost of providing the food.
The feast will be an excellent opportunity for students to gain points for their House. There will be a variety of competitions and Heads of Houses will be dressing up on the evening to support their students. At the moment each House is busy making a shield to display on the evening.
We hope that this will be a rewarding and enjoyable experience for the students, and in advance we would like to thank you for your support.
As places are limited please return the reply slip and contribution to the Cashier’s Office as soon as possible if your son/daughter would like to attend, behaviour and attitude will be taken into consideration.
