Year 9 Options letter and SATS evening

Letter sent to parents of all Year 9 students about Options and SATS.

January 2008

Dear Parents/Carers

Re:  Year 9 Options/SATs Evening – Wednesday 23 January 7.00pm – 9.00pm

The meeting on the 23 January for parents and carers of Year 9 students will give you the opportunity to find out further information about the forthcoming SATs and also about the Key Stage Four courses that will be available.

The evening will begin with important information about the SATs followed by an outline of the Options process and information about how the process will affect your son/daughter this year.  You will then have the opportunity to talk to the different subject teachers about their subjects and ask any relevant questions.

All students have received a Key Stage 4 Booklet outlining the different subjects that can be studied.  This options process is a vital one this term and your role as parents is crucial in ensuring that your son or daughter makes the right decisions for their studies in Key Stage 4.  This meeting will help you to understand how this process will work.

Please find below some important dates of events that will be taking place leading up to the students making their Year 9 Option choices:

15 January           Options Booklet issued to all Year 9 students
23 January           Parents Information Evening about SATs and Options 7.00pm – 9.00pm
1 February            Initial interest form returned to Mentor
25 February          Year 9 Progress Reports Issued
4 March                Parent Teacher Subject Consultation Evening 5.00pm – 8.00pm
14 March              Deadline for Option Forms to be returned to Mentor for checking

You will receive further notification of these meetings closer to the time but in the meantime we look forward to seeing you and your son/daughter on Wednesday 23 January.

Yours sincerely

Mr D Stokes
