Dear Parents/Guardians
I hope that you have all had a wonderful Christmas holiday and are, like us, looking forward to a really great New Year. We finished with a huge round of applause in December with Thomas Yates the proud winner of the laptop computer in the Golden Ticket competition. The prizes were donated by the PTFA, our parent support group, and we thank them again for helping to make the term very special. The final day of last term was filled with House assemblies, Christmas concerts and a full school assembly in the Deans Leisure Centre sports hall. The students were magnificent in their appreciation for the work of the staff and students involved. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Reeves and Mr Rideal for leading the organisation of the celebrations. The Christmas carol concert down in Rottingdean village was a wonderful celebration with our own choir leading the evening. The staff who attended and the members of our community were hugely impressed by the quality of the singing, thank you to those students and to Mr Smith who helped to organise a very special evening. Thank you too to the congregation and Rev. Martin Morgan for his kind invitation to St Margaret’s and kind words for the students of Longhill High School. The school appreciates his support and we are looking forward to building our relationships with all our community groups. We start back this year with high spirits and optimism for the forthcoming year. Our Year 11 students have just sat their mock examinations and have impressed us with their determination to perform at their best this year in their GCSE exams. The school has implemented a range of support mechanisms to try and ensure that each and every one of our students will be proud of their achievements and will be the best they can. With your support I am positive that we will be able to work together and provide the best possible opportunity for all our young people to succeed. Thank you for your support last year and I look forward to a very exciting and successful year ahead. Haydn Stride Headteacher
