Year 9 Options letter

Letter sent home with all Year 9 students with their Options Books and initial interest forms.

Dear Student

Thinking into the future and being sure about your career path, when 13 years old, is very difficult – some would argue impossible. The development of new technologies makes it impossible to predict what new opportunities may arise and make changes to our adult lives.

However, choosing subjects which interest you and that you enjoy will without doubt enhance your engagement and achievement. Choosing subjects that challenge your weaknesses will result in you becoming a more rounded learner and more able to meet learning challenges later in life. Ensuring that you have a broad and balanced range of subjects is of particular importance as this allows greater flexibility and more opportunities for you when considering where you wish to go after Longhill.

I would recommend that you take care, talk to your family, friends and other students already in KS4 throughout the decision-making process and make your choices thoughtfully. The school will provide all the necessary support to ensure that you are able to make the right choice. Mentors, teachers and career team workers are all available to give you advice and answer your questions.

Be determined to make the choices that will allow you to be the best you can and have every success for your future.

Good luck!

Mr H Stride
Headteacher
