Letter sent home to parents of all Year 10 students January 2009
Dear Parent/Carer
This term we are running a Year 10 young women’s/young men’s health programme. There will be 20 students in total in single-sex groups for the duration of the course, which will take place in school time.
As places are limited, students will be selected on a first-come first-served basis. If your son or daughter is interested in joining the course, please return the consent form below as soon as possible.
What is it all about? This programme is part of a project running in 16 Brighton & Hove secondary schools. The programme will raise awareness and develop knowledge of health issues, communication and negotiation skills, self-esteem and sexual health. At the end of the project, we are planning to take the students on a visit to a young people’s information project, family planning/sexual health clinic.
Who co-ordinates it? The project is co-ordinated by Anna Healey, young people’s sexual health worker attached to ACE, who has lots of experience of working with young people around issues relating to sexual health.
The consent slip below is an agreement to your daughter/son taking part. If you require further information about the project, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.
Yours sincerely
Jon Wilson PSHE Co-ordinator
