Letter sent home to parents of all Year 10 students regarding Enterprise Day

Dear Parent/Carer

Re:    Year 10 Enterprise Day

We are planning to hold an Enterprise Day for Year 10 in February.  P Band students will attend the event on 10 February and Q Band students will attend the event on the 11 February.  The Government requires that schools educate students to be “more enterprising”.  Enterprise Education includes teaching students about problem solving, risk-management, communication skills and creativity.  It is about teaching students to be enterprising through applying their knowledge, skills and attributes.  We hope that the events will provide them with better financial capability and economic and business understanding.  We also hope that it will help to prepare them for the world of work.

Taking place at the school, the day will start as normal at 8.15am and end at 2.45pm.  Students should register as usual in their mentor rooms and at 8.40am they will need to make their way to the Dance Studio for assembly.  Lunch will be at the usual school time and arrangements will be as normal.

We would like students to dress appropriately for a business meeting and wear smart trousers/skirt and a shirt and tie/blouse.

During the day students will be expected to act as if they were in a work environment.  The activities will include students gaining an understanding of different types of jobs, roles and requirements in business.  They will also take part in activities run by a Sussex Music business gaining skills, knowledge and understanding of all areas in running a business like this.  We hope the students will find the event enjoyable and educational.  We particularly hope that they will enjoy working in a different environment and being responsible for their own decision making.

During the Enterprise Day we will be taking photographs of the students.  Could you please indicate on the form below if you have any objection to these photographs being used in school and for school publications.
