February Letter to Parents
Dear Parents/Carers

I was very proud of the school’s achievement in the results issued through the DCSF earlier in January. Longhill School’s CVA for KS2-KS4 was the highest in Brighton & Hove and the third highest in the whole of Sussex. These results show that we provide very high quality provision for our students, which results in their achievements being at such a high level.

These achievements would not have been possible without the partnership between the school and home. By working together we have assured the students, staff, families and Governors of Longhill School that our young  people have achieved and they should be proud of their success, as are we.

Over the next two years the school has been asked to increase our roll to a ten form entry. Over five years, from 2010/11, this will mean 25 additional students each year and by 2015 a total school roll of 1350, up from 1200 at present.

This would result in the current buildings being remodelled and additional space being created. This could include extending the canteen, new changing facilities, toilets and additional classrooms and equipment.

Your support in this development is important in enabling the school to access these improvements. You may express your thoughts on the questionnaires sent home with all students, spare copies of which are available on request.

There will be an initial public meeting at the school on 24 February at 7pm and I hope you will be able to come and offer your thoughts and support.

There are exciting times ahead for all of us at Longhill over the next few years. I am confident that we will continue to work together to ensure that we can all be the very best we can.

Yours sincerely

Haydn Stride
