September letter to parents |
|
Dear Parents/ Carers
I am delighted to inform you of another year of successful results for our Year 11 students. 59% achieved 5A* - C with 41% of those inclusive of Maths and English. These results are a rise on the previous years and display our increasing ability to meet the needs of our young people and empower them to be the best they can. Last year we were the school with the highest CVA in Brighton & Hove and the third highest achieving school in the whole of Sussex. These results will be released by central Government later in the term, and we hope to be able to celebrate similar achievements. I would like to thank all the students and their families that worked so hard over the last five years. The staff at Longhill High School are a dedicated and hard working group of professionals and equally they deserve credit and our thanks.
I hope to see all our Year 11 students and their families in our Certificate Evening on 25 November. Our students should have collected a letter with their results. Please return your slips or contact the school directly and let us know your intentions for this evening.
Our exciting new year is already impacted upon by the new building works taking place with a reduction in parking for staff and visitors. This is especially focused at drop off and pick up times. I would like to ask all our families to consider alternative forms of transport, rather than cars for the next year. School buses offer an alternative and if walking to school or the use of bikes to cycle could be considered, this would ease the pressure considerably. Thank you for your support and I look forward to meeting with you during our forthcoming evenings (6.30pm start): Wednesday 16 September: Year 8- Information Evening Thursday 17 September: Year 9- Information Evening Wednesday 23 September: Year 10- Information Evening Thursday 24 September: Year 11- Information Evening Thursday 15 October: Year 7- Pastoral Evening
Yours, Haydn Stride Headteacher |
