Re: Year 10 Paris Trip
The Geography department has arranged an educational visit to Paris from Friday 27 November 2009 (departing approx. 6am) – Sunday 29 November 2009 (returning approx.8pm). The visit, which will include a boat trip along the River Seine and a visit to Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower, complements the GCSE unit we have studied looking at urban planning and issues.
The Geography department will endeavour to enable as many students as possible to benefit from this experience. However, there is a limit to the number of seats available and the department realises that some students may be disappointed. Letters are being given out to all Year 10 pupils studying Geography but places will be allocated on a lottery system by drawing students’ names out of a ‘hat’. All Geography students are eligible to go on the visit, but students whose behaviour or attendance has caused reason for concern may not be allowed to go. This will be discussed with Heads of House. We have explained the situation to the students and ask for parents’ understanding in this matter.
The visit is not compulsory and will cost £207 all-inclusive. This includes coach and ferry travel, a trip to the 2nd floor of the Eiffel Tower, entrance to Disneyland and accommodation at a 2* hotel with breakfast and evening meals. Your son/daughter will need their own passport.
If you wish for your son/daughter to be considered for this trip, please return the application form below by Wednesday 23 September 2009 to your son/daughter’s Geography teacher. You will be notified of the success of the application by letter, shortly after this date and asked for the first non-refundable deposit of £50.
