Duke Of Edinburgh Award Scheme
15 September 2009

Dear Parent/Carer

Re:  Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Your son/daughter has expressed an interest in becoming involved with the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

The Award is about getting involved, trying something different and getting recognition for activities they may already be involved in.  The four main aspects to the award are volunteering, physical, skills and expeditions.  We will be running the Bronze Award for this first year and this will involve at least 2 camping and walking expeditions to achieve this section.

An initial cost of £15.00 is needed to register individuals with the scheme.  They will not require any ‘specialist equipment’ such as tents, rucksacks e.t.c. however, if you do have this equipment then it would be very useful.  There may be some small additional costs for travel but as we hope to take minibuses this should not be too much.

We will meet as a group every fortnight on Wednesday evenings in A32, 3.00pm-4.00pm.  The expeditions will be organised with the local Duke of Edinburgh charity and as soon as we know more we will inform you of the dates.

Please complete the form below if you are interested in your son/daughter being involved with this scheme and after-school club.  The payment and form should be taken to Mrs Hazell in the Finance Office by Friday 25th September 2009.

Yours sincerely

Paula Weir
