Dear Parent/Carer Ski Trip 2011 – Italy
Following the enormous success of the last few years’ ski trips I hope to be able to take another ski trip in February 2011 for Year 11 students (currently Year 10). Normally I would not start organising the trip until the last one comes back but I understand from the travel company that the February half term that year is the same for the whole country, so competition for resorts is fierce. For the trip to be feasible we will have to take approximately 45 students and I need to give the travel company a firm idea of numbers and a deposit this month to secure the booking. I realise that it is very early to be asking you to plan this far in advance but it will also allow payment for the trip to be spread over a longer period of time.
First we have to work out who is going and then, after selection has taken place, I shall promptly be asking for a deposit of £80 per student to secure a place. As the trip takes place during the February half term break in an environment that has inherent risks, we are only prepared to consider taking students who are trustworthy and have a good behaviour record at school. Even so, many excellent students may be disappointed as we usually have many more than 45 excellent students wishing to go!
I have provisionally booked with Equity Travel who again quoted a very good price for Italy. Italy, at present, is the cheapest of the European countries and all areas offer excellent skiing for beginners and intermediates. Please note that no one needs to be a skier to go - you will have great fun learning on arrival.
The cost of the trip will be an all-inclusive £759. Apart from clothing (which can be hired at reasonable rates) and a small amount of pocket money, all the other expenses are taken care of, such as ski hire, group passport, tuition, ski insurance, full board, lift pass and evening entertainment. We will be travelling by coach and departing from Longhill on Saturday 19 February 2011, returning on the following Sunday 27 February 2011.
If you wish for your child to be considered for this trip, please return the application form below by Friday 13 November 2009 to Mrs Moore in the Technology Office by T25. You will be notified of the success of the application by letter, shortly after this date and asked for the first non-returnable deposit of £80.
If you need further information before making up your mind, please do not hesitate to call me at school.
Yours sincerely
Mrs. M Moore Ski Trip Co-ordinator
