November 2009

Dear Parent/Guardians

A Guide to Year 10 Reports – 2009-2010

I have pleasure in enclosing the first report that you will receive for your son/daughter in Year 10.
This report is designed to provide information on current progress, and attitudes to learning.

Supporting you with the report!
    If you see a # please ensure contact is made with the teacher through the Subject Surgery or a phone call
    Current Coursework Progress:
ON – On target to complete coursework equal to or above monitoring grade.
OFF – Not on target to complete coursework or coursework is below monitoring grade.
NA – Coursework not applicable at this stage of the course.
    Compare the monitoring grade against the current performance.  Is this below/above? Is the coursework affecting this?

You should have previously received details about the forthcoming ‘Mentoring Afternoon’ which is on Tuesday 1 December 2009.  This will provide an opportunity for you to meet with your son/daughter’s mentor to discuss this report and any issues arising from it.  I enclose an additional copy for you should you have not received the original.

If you still have any further concerns and would like an opportunity to discuss the report in more detail with the subject teacher(s) concerned, or if you see a #, there is also a Subject Surgery for Year 10 students on Thursday 10 December 2009 between 3.00pm and 4.15pm.  Please telephone the school by 12.00pm on Wednesday 9 December to make an appointment.

Also enclosed with this report is an Attendance Certificate – Please inform us, in writing, of the reason for the absence if an ‘N’ is recorded indicating an unauthorised absence.

Could we please ask you to sign your son/daughter’s school diary, in the week beginning 30 November, to confirm that you have received the report.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to working with you in partnership, at this important time, to ensure your son/daughter achieves the best they can.

Yours sincerely
