Uniform Consultation

January 2010

Dear Parents/Carers

Re: Change in School Uniform - Consultation Process

The School Governors have responded to a request from the Student Council to consider a modification to the school uniform.

We are currently evaluating our current supply of school jumpers and are seeking to improve the quality of the current fabric.  The School Council will be engaging in the evaluation.

The school has also been asked to consider selling school skirts.  The Governors have decided that there are sufficient local suppliers of school skirts to make this unnecessary.  Examples of acceptable school skirts may be seen on the website.

The Governors have agreed to consider changing the current “black shoes” to “black footwear”.  This would mean that we must also consider black training shoes and canvas plimsolls as well as boots and heel heights.  Any changes to school footwear regulations would not come into effect until after Easter 2010.

It is the Governors’ and the School Council’s intention to first consult with you to find out if you consider these proposals acceptable, and then to work with the school to produce further guidelines for what would constitute suitable “black footwear” and what would not be acceptable.

I will work with the School Council over the next few weeks and propose to you some further suggestions about future guidelines.  In the meantime, please let me know your thoughts which I will include within the next stage of this consultation period.

Please reply and let me know your thoughts by writing to Mrs Boretskiy, Secretary to the Headteacher or by emailing This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with “School Footwear” in the subject line.

Yours sincerely
