Dear Parent/Carer
We are looking forward to meeting your son/daughter in September and on behalf of the Modern Foreign Languages Department I would like to inform you of the arrangements for languages provision in Year 7 at Longhill.
In Key Stage 3, students at Longhill will study either French or Spanish throughout Years
7 – 9. Half the year group (5 teaching groups) will study French and the remaining 5 teaching groups will study Spanish.
If there is a very strong reason why your son/daughter should study either French or Spanish, please could you put this in writing and either post or email me (

) your reply by end of this Friday 25 June 2010 and we will endeavour to place your child in the appropriate teaching group. Please be aware that this may have an impact on friendship groups within the teaching groups.
