Re: Year 10 Information Evening – Tuesday 21 September 2010, 6.30pm
The school will be holding an information evening for the parents of Year 10 students on Tuesday 21 September 2010 at 6.30pm.
You will know that this school year is a very important one for all students in Year 10 since it comprises over half of their GCSE course and leads to major decisions about their subsequent future courses and careers.
I would therefore like to invite you to the above Information Evening entitled ‘Introduction to Key Stage 4 Courses’. This will be an informal evening and will enable you to learn more about GCSEs, BTECs and other vocational examinations, coursework and target setting. The evening will also give you advice on how to help students achieve the best possible results.
There will also be an opportunity for you to tour the school and experience the outstanding new facilities. We have extensive new canteen facilities, toilets, covered patio area, new classrooms, science practical area, updated technology areas, as well as a new block of classrooms, textiles suite and our exciting creative space.
Parents/ carers will also be able to collect their logon credentials for the new Parent Portal at the Information Evening. Parent Portal is a secure website which parents/carers can access details of their child's attendance and behaviour, as well as have access to school policy documents. Due to the sensitive nature of this access, we ask parents and carers to bring a form of photo identification with them to collect their credentials - for example a Passport or photo Driving Licence.
