As part of our drive to raise learners' achievement at Longhill, we are pleased to announce that we have subscribed to samlearning.com, an online resource, providing learners with revision materials, exam practice and related learning materials for KS3 and KS4. Samlearning.com is an online learning and revision resource, which can accessed from any internet connection - in school, at home or from the public library or learning centre. Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and revision, whilst teachers are able to check on individual progress and performance. Statistics have shown that the GCSE grades of students in schools using the site have improved and we want our students to benefit as much as possible from this opportunity. To begin with, we are rolling the programme out to Year 11 and Year 9 students and students in these two years will be given the information they need to be able to use the site in the course of the next two weeks. Each learner will have a unique user name and password, giving access to the learning materials on the site and teachers will be able to set assignments and homework on line. Resources include self-marking exercises, practice examination questions at GCSE and KS3 (SATS) Level, all of which are designed to give instant feedback on performance to the learner. We hope that parents and carers will encourage students to use the site, especially as it has been demonstrated that just 10 hours' revision can improve student performance in public examinations. Should you have any questions or comments regarding samlearning, please contact Mr. R. Holland.
