Last Week of Term Arrangements

HMS/LAF

5 December 2011

Dear Parent/Carer

I am writing to you to wish you a very Merry Christmas and to inform you of the arrangements for the last week of term.

The majority of lessons will be unaffected. I will expect learning to be planned for and engaged with throughout the remainder of the term, up until and including the final day.

We will have very focussed rewards trips and events in celebration of the end of the year, the only whole school impact will be as below:

The last day of term is Friday 16 December 2011and will be a normal day with buses arriving for students at 2.45 pm.  The programme for the day will be as follows:

Period 1         will be normal lessons for students.
Periods 2 - 4         students will be involved in either House Assembly, SLT Assembly,
            or Mentor time.
1.00pm - 1.45pm     Normal lunch break.
Period 5        Golden Ticket Assembly

School ends as normal at 2.45 pm

I will be requesting that teaching staff do not show DVD’s until the last day and only during mentor time.

Attendance levels this year are higher than ever before, currently at 93.6%. This traditionally has been impacted upon by lower attendance across the last week and last day of term.

My intention is to focus our staff on learning right through to the end of term and engage students with purpose to that end.

Please ensure your child attends the school through to the Golden Ticket Assembly, where they will be able to share as a community our successes and celebrate the Christmas and New Year holidays together.

The new school term will begin at 8:20am on Tuesday 3rd January 2012.

On behalf of the staff at Longhill, I wish you all a very peaceful and enjoyable Christmas.

Yours sincerely

Haydn Stride
Headteacher
